Breaking the rules - a personal note
Recently, I have been reading suggestions on how to improve readership of my blog. According to the conventional wisdom of blogging, most of my entries are much too long. However, I try to provide substance. Let me know what you think. Should I try to make them shorter, or do you think I need to keep them long to sufficiently back up my point?

Harold,
Please don't shorten your commentaries simply for the sake of brevity. I for one appreciate the thorough manner in which you present your comments (along with, of course, their clarity and objectivity).

Sometimes it is necessary to write a long comment, but not usually. If there is a way something can be said succinctly, it would probably be a good idea to do it that way.
When I am reading an opinion piece by someone,(even if I agree) if it is too long, I will oftentimes stop reading word for word and scan the rest of it to get the point, and then make my comments about the content, rarely the length.
Of course , that may just because of my impatience

Perhaps a good compromise would be for me to add some subheadings to longer posts, to enable readers to skip over parts that are not of interest.
